New Middle East hotels opening in 2022
There may have been a global pandemic and whilst some new hotel launch dates have been delayed it hasn’t put the breaks on others from opening. Here is our list of the major hotels that are opening in the Middle East in 2022. So why a list of the new Middle Eastern hotels opening this year? Well, you can especially rely on the Gulf States to go full out with the glitz, the glamour and to be extending their hotel base.
Who doesn’t love a bargain (read *me*)? So, as these hotels are either newly opened or scheduled to fling open their doors soon, it’s worth checking if there are any special opening offers. We’ve included links to their websites but if you prefer to book through a travel agent or broker, then always just ask the question. And, if you do grab a bargain, please share with us (sharing is caring and all that).
It’s amazing how quickly Dubai has grown over recent years. There’s always building work happening. In fact, I’m sure I once read that a quarter of the world’s cranes could be found in Dubai! Here are the some of the new hotels opening in Dubai this year.
Atlantis The Royal Dubai
Opening Date: Q4 2022 (September at time of writing)
Where: Palm Jumeirah
It’s Atlantis so it has to have the ‘wow’ factor. But I think the design of their newest hotel, is going to divide opinion. Some will love the gravity-defying rooms and angular lines. Others will think this new hotel resembles stacked shipping containers. I’ll let you decide.
Location-wise, this new hotel is on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, just along the road from the original, iconic Atlantis hotel.
There will be a whopping 795 rooms and suites. Oh, and a 90m high infinity pool, that’s set to become a night-time destination is it’s own right. If you prefer the beach to the pool, then the Atlantis Royal Dubai has a beachfront location too.
Foodies can choose from big name restaurants from the likes of Heston Blumenthal, Giorgio Locatelli and Gordon Ramsay (plus many others).
By the way, for a spare few million quid you can own a 2-5 bed residence, penthouse or suite.
Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah
Opening Date: July 2022
Where: Located at the entrance to Palm Jumeirah
Located on the beach at the entrance of Palm Jumeirah, this is first Marriott Resort in Dubai. The 608 guest rooms and suites, which are located over 13 floors, all have private balconies and views overlooking the Arabian Gulf.
Expanding waistlines look certain thanks to the choice of restaurants that include a Mediterranean buffet, Italian Trattoria, Mexican, Korean BBQ, Japanese and Peruvian roof top bar and restaurant.
This is a good location to discover downtown Dubai as it is near to the main Sheikh Zayed Road. Estimated taxi fare is 100AED from the airport.
More information and rates are available from their website here.
W Dubai Mina Seyahi
Opening Date: May 10th 2022
Location: Near to Dubai Marina
Dubbed to be an “iconic addition to Dubai’s skyline”, this 31-storey hotel will, in my opinion, have a great location as it’s near to the Dubai Marina and the JBR Walk. Both of these areas are really nice to stroll around, especially in the evening. There’s always a lovely buzzy atmosphere. Stay in one of the 318 guestrooms, 26 suites or the 1 Extreme WOW Suite (W’s take on a Presidential Suite).
This is definitely hotel for all those gym-bunnies out there. The hotel’s FIT Fitness Centre is set to be one of the UAE’s “coolest” fitness experiences with a 2500sqm dual storey studio. Personally, I’ll take their word on that.
This is the second W Hotel in Dubai – the other being located on the Palm. Find out more information here.
Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah
Opening Date: Reservations available from September 2022
Location: Located at the entrance to Palm Jumeirah
This new Hilton Hotel will be right next door to the soon-to-be-opening Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah (if you’re still paying attention, then top marks as you’ve realised it’s one of the hotel’s we’ve already mentioned). This new hotel has a great location just 20 minutes from the iconic Burj Khalifa and the super-huge Dubai Mall. The nearest mall is probably the new Nakheel Mall just 1.3km away.
For food, there’s an American style barbecue, Factory Bar & Kitchen and Jones the Grocer artisan eatery plus others too.
Radisson Resort Dubai Palm Jumeirah
Opening Date: tbc in 2022
Location: Jumeirah Beach
This 389 room new build hotel is Radisson’s first beachfront location in Dubai. They have other properties in places like Damac Hills and Media City.
There are said to be 5 food and drink outlets and all-day dining is going to be available.
Anantara World Islands, Dubai
Opening Date: opened December 2021
Location: The World Islands, Dubai
OK, so technically they’ve already opened but this unique hotel destination is worthy of mention. The World Islands have been talked about and under construction for years. We first visited Dubai in 2008 – and they were being shown on the tourist maps back then! But, like many things, a global financial crisis and pandemic brought about big delays – but not anymore!
Anantara World Islands is the first development to have opened in this unrivaled destination. You have total privacy – after all you’re staying on your own island! It’s a guest-only resort so it’s especially a safe place for families to get together.
Enjoy breakfast by the sea, in villa dining or a choice of 4 restaurants. Definitely one to watch and if it’s as good as it’s sister hotel (Anantara Palm Jumeirah) you’re in for a treat! Find out more from their website here.
Ras al Khaimah
You may be thinking – where? Ras al Khaimah is one of the seven (and most northern) of the emirate states that make up the United Arab Emirates. It’s a great option if you want to escape hectic for something quieter and more relaxed as it’s only just over an hours drive from Dubai.
Anantara Mina Al Arab
Opening Date: exact 2022 opening date to be confirmed
Location: Ras al Khaimah
This is the UAE’s first eco-resort. There are 174 guest rooms, suites and the first over-water villas in Ras al Khaimah. The resorts signature Thai restaurant is over the water whilst fans of seafood will love the pool grill. The hotel is part of the new Mina Al Arab luxury development with a marina, waterfront cafes and boutiques.
This is a great resort for eco-lovers with rugged landscapes, and a chance to go dune bashing or perhaps charter a yacht to sail in the balmy waters.
Over in Qatar, they really seem to be planting their flag firmly in the tourist map. Someone mentioned there’s some football match or other happening in the capital in November or December? So there’s lots of new hotels opening in readiness for The World Cup (as I believe it’s called).
Opening Date: 2022 – exact date to be confirmed
Location: Lusail City, Doha
Housed in two distinctive, striking towers that are inspired by the coral reefs and seas surrounding Qatar. This is an ultra-luxury hotel which will have 185 guest rooms and suites. For longer stays there are serviced residences too.
You won’t go hungry as there is a collection of 8 different food outlets and you can work off the calories in the spa and fitness centre.

Fairmont Doha & Raffles Doha
Opening Date: to be confirmed later in 2022
Katara Towers will be a new landmark address in Qatar and set to be a photo-stop thanks to the hotel’s iconic architecture which is inspired by the national emblem of Qatar – traditional Scimitar Swords.
The Towers will be home to two deluxe hotels. The Fairmont, a luxurious five-star hotel will have 361 rooms and suites especially designed to cater to discerning business travellers. The sumptuous six-star Raffles Hotel, meanwhile, will have 132 suites for those who prefer “sophisticated luxury accommodation”.
Much quieter and low-key than it’s UAE neighbour, Oman is a fascinating country to explore. Meander around Muscat’s souks which are filled to the brim with textiles, spices and souvenirs or take a safari to the Al Hajar Mountains which locals compare to America’s Grand Canyon.
Jumeirah Muscat Bay
Opening Date: March 1st 2022
This is the first Jumeirah hotel to open in Oman and is located on the outskirts of Muscat in the secluded Bandar Jissah Cove. There will be views aplenty as each room and suite is guarantee a sea view. Other facilities include a choice of restaurants and bars celebrating international flavours and a luxury spa with a focus on wellness.

Saudi Arabia is opening their doors with a very active promotional campaign to showcase what this relatively undiscovered tourist enclave has to offer. You may have seen the PR. You may have spotted the adverts – looks like Saudi Arabia is very much open for (tourism) business. With that said, there are some notable new hotels opening later this year.
Banyan Tree, AlUla
Opening Date: Q3/4 2022
Location: Ashar Valley, AlUla
The Banyan Tree Hotel has been developed in the Kingdom’s first UNESCO World Heritage site.
Located just a short hop (in flight terms) from Jeddah or Riyadh, this looks to be an absolute beauty of a resort situated in an eco-tourism region.
The tented complex will house 82 luxury villas which will enjoy a breathtaking unspoilt landscape. Guests can also visit the renown Banyan Tree Spa as well as a choice of gourmet dining outlets.
Nobu Hotel, Riyadh

This luxury lifestyle-led hotel will dominate the landscape with their 23-storey glass panelled skyscraper. This will be the first 5-star luxury boutique hotel in the Kingdom and the first Nobu restaurant will open at the same time. Stay in one of the 119 guestrooms and suites.
