Family-favourite hotel

Why do we recommend The Grand, Lytham St Annes?

Here’s just a snapshot …

  • Family owned – who obviously care about their staff as much as their customers and this really shows in the service you receive
  • Superb Restaurant – Cafe Grand serves a seasonal menu that also features many local producers
  • Choice of elegant bedrooms – standard rooms, executive as well as sea view rooms and suites
  • Grand 22 is an annex that is perfect for families with dedicated multi-occupancy rooms
  • A fabulous spa and gym – with a very large (by hotel standards) 17 metre pool, sauna and jacuzzi, a well-equipped gym and relaxation areas.
  • Located overlooking St Anne’s beach with the opportunity to wall along the sea defence walls all the way to Lytham town centre.

About The Grand Hotel

Located on St Anne’s promenade and overlooking the beach stands the majestic four-star Grand Hotel. This family-run hotel is a place of two halves. The main building dates back to Victorian times with a wide, central sweeping staircase and lots of architectural gems that have been preserved. Around 50 metres down the road is Grand 22 – an annex that is aimed at family stays and with large family bedrooms. Whether you’re staying in the main building or at Grand 22, you get to experience and use all of the hotel’s facilities and amenities.

Cafe Grand Restaurant

Cafe Grand isn’t like a hotel restaurant. The ambience is that of a stylish, cosmopolitan establishment. With cosy booths, trendy lighting and high and low tables, it’s as suitable for a romantic meal for two as it is for a larger gathering of family and friends. No wonder it’s also a popular special occasion option for non-residents.

The food is probably best described as Modern British. So, there’s favourites like burger, steak and curry but the menu is interspersed with creative seasonal dishes. Local flavours and ingredients are peppered throughout the menu too, so don’t be surprised to see things like Mrs Kirkham’s Lancashire Cheese listed.

The bar area that is located within the restaurant is supremely well-stocked. There’s probably a dozen gins to try, an extensive wine list, beers and spirits. Drivers and non-drinkers won’t be disappointed by the gorgeous choice of organic juices and mixers.

Beautiful Bedrooms

There’s a choice of rooms both in the main building and at the Grand 22 annex. Some rooms overlook the glorious, wide sandy St Anne’s beach which offers an impressive sea view stay.

You’ll find some rather lovely Molton Brown toiletries in the bathrooms whilst all bedrooms are spacious and have a Nespresso machine – a morning must have in our opinion! Most rooms have a fridge – which is handy if you like the option of fresh milk. Beds are comfy, towels are soft and the linen is pristine white.

Standard rooms are smaller and often located towards the back and rear of the hotel. In the main building, there are sea-view rooms (a couple with outdoor terrace) and four additional ‘Turret’ suites which are the most luxurious rooms located in the original Victorian turrets.

Relaxing Spa and not-so relaxing Gym

One of the best places to relax is in the large spa. At 17m, the pool is a great way to burn off the calories that you indulge in at the restaurant! There’s also a hot tub and wooden sauna (over 16’s only) as well as relaxation chairs. There are tables and chairs (indoor and outdoor) to relax with a coffee and newspaper.

If you’re feeling extra energetic, the gym is very well equipped with all of the typical equipment you’d expect.

Things to see and do in and around the area

St Anne’s Beach

On a sunny day, there’s nowhere better than St Anne’s beach. Wide golden sands that stretch for miles, it never feels crowded and you can usually find a quiet spot to watch to world go by.

Walk to Lytham

A new promenade walk from nearby Fairhaven Lake takes you right into the heart of Lytham. In Lytham, there are independent shops and some fantastic bars and restaurants.

Golfers rejoice

The hotel is near to world-class golf courses. If you’re not quite contemplating that standard then the Crazy Golf and Pitch & Putt just along the road from the hotel may help you perfect your swing.

St Anne’s Beach, The Pier and Amusement Arcade

In amidst the golden beach lies St Anne’s Pier. A lovely stroll along the traditional wooden pier. There’s also an amusement arcade where you can easily part with lots of coins but enjoy some retro games in the process.

Top Tip: It’s worth noting that the hotel is cashless.
